How to Program a Ford Key Fob

Step-by-Step Ford Key Fob Programming Instructions

1. Make sure the vehicle's doors are closed, then open the driver's door and press the UNLOCK button on the open door.

2. Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times. This must be done within ten seconds, and you should be sure to end on RUN. The vehicle will indicate that you've entered programming mode by locking and unlocking the doors. If the locks won't cycle after you've done this within the allotted time, your vehicle may not be equipped with keyless entry.

3. Press any button that you wish to program on your key fob. This must be done within eight seconds. The vehicle will once again confirm that the process was successful by cycling the door locks.

4. If you have a second Ford key fob you wish to program, you can press any button on that keyless entry remote within eight seconds, and the now-familiar door-lock-cycle will confirm your success. You can do this for any additional key fobs you wish to program.

5. When you're done, turn the ignition to the OFF position, and the locks will cycle one more time to indicate the end of the key fob programming process.
