2020 Ford Escape Engine Specs

Discover the 2020 Ford Escape engine specs below:

  • 1.5L EcoBoost®: 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque
  • 2.0L EcoBoost® with Auto Start-Stop Technology: 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque
  • Hybrid with a 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine: 198 hp; estimates of 39 mpg combined city/highway
  • Plug-in hybrid with a 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine: 209 hp; expected 30-mile all-electric range

2020 Ford Escape Performance Features

Complementing the 2020 Ford Escape engine options are various performance-related features.

  • Transmissions: An 8-speed automatic transmission comes standard, and moving up to the 2.0L EcoBoost® engine adds SelectShift® with paddle shifters to the transmission. On the hybrid models, you’ll have an electronic continuously variable transmission.
  • Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive is standard, but all models come available with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive with AWD Disconnect, which detects when AWD is not needed to boost efficiency.
  • Brakes: Gas engines come with 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, whereas hybrid models come with the same, as well as the regenerative braking system.
  • Selectable Drive Modes: Choose between Normal, Eco, Slippery, Sport, and Deep Snow/Sand modes to modify the electronic stability control system and traction control system automatically.

2019 Ford Escape Engine Options

The 2020 Ford Escape engine options build off of those of the 2019 model. EPA estimates reach 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, for instance, and there are three distinct engines available on the 2019 model: a 2.5L I-4 with intake variable cam design, a 1.5L turbocharged EcoBoost® engine or a 2.0L twin-scroll EcoBoost.
